buffalo wing sauce

This homemade buffalo wing sauce is spicy, buttery, tangy, and very easy to make. It takes only a few minutes and is perfect for chicken wings, fries, burgers, or dipping.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup hot sauce
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Step-by-Step Procedure

1. Melt the butter

Place a small saucepan over low heat. Add the butter and let it melt slowly. Do not let the butter burn or turn brown.

2. Add the hot sauce

Once the butter has melted, pour in the hot sauce. Stir gently until the butter and hot sauce are well combined.

3. Add the vinegar

Add 2 tablespoons of white vinegar. Stir well. The vinegar gives the sauce a nice tangy taste.

4. Add the Worcestershire sauce

Pour in 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce and mix it into the sauce.

5. Add the spices

Add the garlic powder, cayenne pepper, and salt. Stir everything together until the spices are evenly mixed.

6. Simmer the sauce

Keep the saucepan over low heat for about 3–5 minutes. Stir occasionally. Do not bring the sauce to a hard boil.

7. Taste and adjust

Taste the sauce carefully. If you want it hotter, add a little more cayenne pepper. If you want it less spicy, add a little more butter or hot sauce.

8. Let it cool slightly

Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the sauce to cool for a few minutes. It will become slightly thicker as it cools.

9. Coat your chicken wings

Place your freshly cooked chicken wings in a large bowl. Pour the buffalo sauce over the wings and toss until every piece is nicely coated.

10. Serve

Easy Homemade Buffalo Wing Sauce

Serve the buffalo wings while they are hot. They are delicious with celery sticks, carrot sticks, and ranch or blue cheese dressing.

Tip: For the best flavor, toss the sauce with the wings while they are still hot so the sauce sticks well to the chicken.
